A Miracle Story in Maldives
Guess what happened in Maldives. I had gone through a roller coaster mood of changes in about 5 hours when I did my second dive at Amilla Fushi, Maldives. Please find the whole story, click Read More….
It was a new day again. After my morning rituals and a bit of talking to the ocean. I was set for a nice workout. I remembered, Aswad took me through some papers which were various offerings of the health and spa section. The stay at Amilla comes with complimentary watersports and daily Spa. Above that various weekly activities one can take part.
It seemed I had the option of doing a beginner’s yoga with Ryoko or/and a Pilate’s session with vinyasa flow yoga with Lisa. The flow yoga is something I had enjoyed in the past and tried even during the Sri Lanka trip.
So, I checked the timings and decided on trying thesession with Lisa. When I arrived, I was welcomed by Lisa. In the following days, she would become one of my favorite people on the Island. I had always enjoyed the company of spiritual and health oriented people. And Lisa, had a wealth of knowledge and experience in the health and wellness industry. She has a very calming air to her.
The Yoga lasted for about 40 minutes and as expected it had me feeling energetic and happy. While, I could have gone about chatting with Lisa the whole day as she politely and patiently listened to me and offered her thoughts. Something in my stomach told me that I was starting to get very hungry now.
It was about 10am now, as my buggy dropped me to the breakfast restaurant. This time I was determined to go beyond the varieties of cereals and fruits. I ordered eggswith smoked salmon, some breakfast cheese and a Spirulina smoothie. However,it was the grilled asparagus (my favorite) that bought be some form of popularity at the restaurant. I’d ask for it every day and soon enough the staff became prompt enough to bring it without me having to ask.
Later that afternoon, I continued my snorkelling session and went further exploring a different corner of the island that seemed more active with the underwater life. I came back for a nap and woke up fresh before the sunset. I took a walk down to this tiny beach that I would often pass by on the buggy. There was a dramatic build of clouds but the view was nevertheless eye catching. Several beautiful pictures got added to the collection.
Post sunset, I went back to the room to prepare for a gathering at the sunset bar. Last night at the dinner, Rae extended me an invitation to a sort of weekly meet where fellow guests and the staff get to meet each other over champagne on the house and a gorgeous sunset view.
The concept, very unique to Amilla received very positive feedbacks from the guests. Besides, meeting the whole gang of cool people from Dive Butler, I got introduced to a lot of the friendly staff and fellow guests. This was a very versatile mix of people ranging from a lovely couple from HongKong to the German couple who had made Maldives their routine once a year, an American couple, a holidaying family from Russia and many more honeymooning couples. I must point out that even with so many people there is nothing that comes in the way of privacy. This was an achievement on the part of Amilla.
When my eyes opened, I could tell this was going to be the most special of my days. Because after meeting the wonderful pack from Dive Butler yesterday, I couldn’t have looked more forward to diving with them. Antonio, who sort of heads the unit at Amilla is a genius with a great sense of humor. To think of all those people for whom Maldives would be the first dive into the water. I don’t think there is anything safer and so comfortable than the Dive Butler.
Besides, Antonio’s expertise and rich experience, Dive Butler has some of the finest instructors who make diving so much more fun. Not only are they amongst the most recognized but their approach to diving and high standards make them very trustworthy.
The center at Amilla is well stocked and equipped with the latest of the best. I say that because I have a bit of diving experience and have seen several diving centers. Plus, I had done my pre-trip research about it.
Today to my good fortune, the weather was fantastic as always and we were soon geared up and on our boat to the blue hole. I will save this one for all the wonderful videos to tell u the story. The videos courtesy Antonio helped me sort of archive yet another one of my successful blue hole dives. At the risk of sounding repetitive, and it goes without saying, that when in Maldives, diving is an absolute must! And diving with Dive Butler only means doing the best thing in the best way with the best people!
I was experiencing high levels of the thing they called “joy”. After that fantastic dive with Antonio. I was planned to see yet another favorite person of mine. Lisa, at the Jaavu Spa awaited me with all the warmth and positiveness that she radiates. The Spa at Amilla is simply mind boggling. Not only it is huge in size and menu very extensive, but it also seems like an independent destination in itself.
Theirs are tied up with some big and premium brands that provide high quality products. For example, I was informed that the products that were used in body treatments that I opted for were by the luxury holistic brand called “ila”. While the style of massages that I received were by “pure massage ” , a technique developed by a London based massage expert.
All the masseuses have received training for it. Similarly, the facial productsare by QMS and forerunner in advanced and scientific products for the healthy skin.
Not only hanging out here got me friends but also i was now equipped with such helpful tips and valuable pointers on health and skin management. Lisa, who hails from South Africa is not only well read and travelled but also a master of her art. I received several treatments and massages at the spa during the course of my stay. Needless to say all very satisfactory. The staff comprises of some of the nicest massuese and experts from the field and from very different parts of the world creating a very unique atmosphere.
There is even a tea lounge that faces the beach and is next to the fully equipped gym. This lounge, the jacuzzi and sauna section were fast becoming my favorite hangouts. If I am to recommend something from the spa, then the very relaxing “facial massage” would definitely be one the must try’s. My dinner time companions were my new friends and fellow vacationers, a couple from Hong Kong. We tried “sheesha” by the bar and some well done cocktails. With good company, good food and a wonderful atmosphere. Time just kept flying by.
I slept very long and by the time I was up it was past 10am. So, I ordered breakfast in the room and coupled the breakfast with my morning routine of sitting at the deck and watching the ocean. Although, this would be my second last day on the island but activities wise the last.
As tomorrow I shall be checking out by noon and headed to the airport. This for a second made me wish the holiday had been longer. But then again it wouldn’t be a holiday if it would be as long as Iwish wishing. Let’s skip that!
Guess what? I had another dive planned with Antonio today. While all went perfect, we ended up losing my camera in the ocean. Now with the size that ocean and with only rough idea where it could have fallen. Practically, it meant the go pro was lost forever.
While, that did affect my mood slightly and slow me down. Things were miraculously turned around, making me crazy joyful upon receiving a picture and message from the diving crew. It said they managed to recover it. And Antonio found it.
To think of the whole crew having gone back to the ocean, all the way to the diving spot. And all of them down there looking for this one small thing in that gigantic ocean. It never ceases to amaze me how sweet these people are. I was short of words when I was reunited with my GoPro but I do remember hugging people!
Now, with the day turned around and me extra joyful. There was a special wine and cheese tasting tour planned with Beatrice who is one of the two brilliant wine experts at Amilla.
From, being somebody who had little or limited amount of guidance on cheese oreven wine. Things were turned around the second time during the day as I was impressed by Beatrice’s knowledge and suggestions of cheese and wine combinations. This is yet another one of those unique experiences that I managed only at Amilla.
Beatrice showed me around the well kept wine cellar with a fine collection. She also introduced me to several ideologies and developments of that business. It also helped me figure out better various cheese and wine, that go well with which kind of food. And of course a 101 on cheese and wine. This would be one of the things I would look forward to doing again whenever there is an expert like Beatrice in the house and a collection of wine and cheese like at Amilla’s.
The sunset hour was spent at the spa and the tea lounge. Later, that evening I was joined by Rae and Antonio for drinks at the sunset bar. And it followed a dinner reservation at Lonu, the flagship restaurant of the premier Australian chef Luke Mangan.
This was the most impressionable dining experiences. And I can’t help but wish for such an experience again. The food not only had its own class but the flavours and presentation got full marks. The staff very able and equipped with all that is needed in helping you achieve that superior dining experience. Location unbeatable and food most importantly the reason why people from nearby islands and guests at other luxurious resorts made special trips here for the taste of luxury in food.
That night, I spent a while watching the stars from the deck of my villa. The calming roar of the waves and the realization of having had a beautiful day beats all other bedtime realizations.
I had my last long talk with the ocean in the morning, as I meditated. Soon, I would have breakfast at the restaurant and thank all the staff that by now seem to know me so well and feel like family. I will have Aswad looking after me for a few more hours and being so good at it.
I will walk to the spa to wish Lisa lots of luck, say my goodbye’s and hope to visit her again. I will stop by the Dive butler office and the whole gang would have cake and wine with me as I tell them I would miss it all.
And when the speed boat will pick me up and zoom away into the ocean. I shall have my eyes set on my beautiful island home Amilla. The very island, I came for a holiday, that I made home the past few days. And now I go back with more than beautiful stories, experiences, new found friendships and precious memories that I now share with you and hope that you will create your own too…
Again, many thanks to Amilla Fushi, DestinationElite.com, Dive Butler, FlyMe for sponsoring my trips in Maldives, all the experience belongs to me.
